Information for Parents
Dress Code:

We want to make our school somewhere to be proud of by dressing in a way which shows all our pupils are ready to work. All children are encouraged to wear school sweatshirts or school shirt and tie with dark self-coloured trousers or skirt. By supporting our dress code we believe there are many advantages. These are:
-
Encouraging a sense of belonging and pride in the school
-
Encouraging a purposeful attitude to school work
-
Enhancing the image of the school in the community
-
Improving school security
Sweatshirts can be purchased / ordered from the school office.
Conduct:
We strive to meet the needs of all the children in our school and most of the time their behaviour is excellent. We work at maintaining and developing a friendly, safe and secure environment and to promote good attitudes to learning and co-operation. Our behaviour management scheme rewards positive bahaviour and we have an excellent record which compares favourably with other schools. A recent School Review report praised many aspects of our work with school pupils, including the effectiveness of pastoral care.
Pupil Safety:
If a child is ill, is going to be absent from school, or is going to be late, please let us know by telephone or verbal message first thing in the morning. We operate a computer-based absence notification system and if we have an unexplained absence, we will make contact with you to establish that your child is safe.
Homework:
The purpose of giving homework is to raise attainment by actively involving parents in their child's learning. The main types of homework are tasks which are part of the curriculum, work arising from class discussion or pieces of work which complement class work. The children should not find the homework too difficult as it will have already been explained in class.
Parent Consultations:
We offer parents the opportunity to discuss their child's progress with the class teacher twice a year. If parents wish to discuss any issue with the teacher outwith these dates, an appointment can be made through the Head Teacher. The dates for this school year will be:
-
Thursday 12 November 2009, from 3.30pm to 8pm
-
Thursday 25 March 2010, from 3.30pm to 8pm
